After Pitch Day, we had to get Bella and Cara through the volunteering process at the Hope Center. Since I am an employee at the boutique, I already had my from and background checks done. I contacted Katrina Donahue and Joanna Jamison, the volunteer coordinators at the Hope Center. We scheduled the interviews on September 1st so we could volunteer as soon as possible. While we were at the Hope Center we went on a tour with Mary Nolan, the associate director. Now we were all set to start our volunteer process. A big thanks to Katrina, Joanna, and Mary for being so flexible with our schedules! SERVING @ REDEFINED HOPE BOUTIQUEThis was our first week that we were able to come over and volunteer. I got in contact with Sarah Blair and Rachel Kleine, the directors of Redefined Boutique. They had a need for help in the donation room, especially with the upcoming fall and holiday seasons. The donation room is extremely helpful to the boutique as donations can be sold on the thrift rack in the boutique. This means that there is no production cost and 100% of the proceeds can go back to the ministries at the Hope Center. We went in during our long period to go sort in the donation room. We sorted through a full bin of clothing to get them ready to be hung and priced. Sarah and Rachel also needed us to model some new products for them so they could list them in the online stores and advertise them on social media. SERVING IN THE DONATION ROOM @ HCIWe had our second day of volunteering at the Hope Center on the long day this week. I texted Sarah and she said the donation bin was overflowing around it. There was a lot for us to do that day so we worked for as much time as possible, leaving at the beginning of homeroom. We sorted through all of the donations, bagged the donations the boutique wouldn't use or sell, and then loaded the donation trailer. We swept the floor after and took out any trash. STARTING THE T-SHIRT PROCESS
RED FOR RILEY WEEKThis week we really started getting all the finishing touches done for the Red for Riley fundraiser. On the short days we got all the supplies ready, printed posters, organized the raffle baskets, and started the sale of the rally towels. On Wednesday, I went over to Hope Center to help Sarah and Rachel get t-shirts ready for a service day on Thursday. While I was at the Hope Center, I also had a meeting to decide the name of new fundraiser for the Hope Center. It is a book store that sells used books for cheap and a large precent of the profits go back to the Hope Center. We narrowed the name of the company down between Penny Pages, the Thrifty Reader, and Bookshelf Bargains. On Friday of this week, we had the Red for Riley Fundraiser with Vivian and Kenzie. During the week we put all the raffle baskets together. A group of us from the class arrived early to set up and decorate. We got carts ready so we could sell rally towels in a couple different places throughout the stadium. The night went very well. The fundraiser was a success! GETTING SPONSORSOver the past couple of weeks, we have been reaching out to local businesses and companies. We managed to round up the funds so that we can get T-shirts at no expense. All together, these businesses have been so generous in giving $1550 so that we won't have to worry about paying anyone back after the fundraiser. The past couple weeks, we have kept busy communicating with the sponsors, picking up the checks, and spending some times in the Donation Room at the Hope Center. The sponsors are Schreiber Lumber, Edward Jones, 316 Product Development, German Church Road Dentistry, Home Bound Real Estate, Hobbs Automotive, and Realife Church. This past week we finalized the back to the T-shirts which will have our sponsors represented on it. Over the next week, we plan to get in touch with Team Image. We also wrote out a letter in order to start get sponsors for the raffle-baskets. We made a new plan of having a business put together the basket themself so that the basket can fully represent them and their support of the Hope Center. Below are all the sponsors that will be included on the design of our shirt... Gathering Our Baskets...Over Thanksgiving Break, the T-shirts were ordered and arrive on Thursday. On Wednesday, we pick up our baskets from majority of the donors. This will include the Gentle Dentist, Cakehole, Mozzi's, First Merchant Banks, Redefined Hope Boutique, Potter Eye Care, NPHS, and Axe Head Threads. This week we are putting together our final plans on when and where to sell T-shirts. We are getting together all the supplies for our fundraiser too. Below are pictures of some of the raffle baskets...
THE FUNDRAISER!!!!!Last week, we sold our T-shirts in the morning before school. We sold completely out of mediums and had only a few smalls by the end of Tuesday, so we had to put in a second and even a third order. Thanks to Team Image we were able to get our shirts Thursday evening and had them ready to sell on Friday! We advertised our shirts on social media and through email. Staff, students, and community members helped us to sell 264 shirts!!! Throughout the week we worked with Mr. Murphy to put together PA announcements for the game. Mr. Voelz helped us so much with the morning and afternoon announcements to let students know when and where to get a shirt. We got all of the baskets prepared and straightened up. NPHS donated some spirit-wear and even a nike backpack last minute for raffle off. On Friday, we arrived early to the game and decorated our tables. We got all of the raffle baskets set out, posters hung up, and gave some announcements to be done during the games. After half time we realized we were only $500 off from the $5,000 goal! We hurried and emptied some basket and gave Mr. Sevier an announcement that we would be running around after the 3rd quarter to collect donations! This put us only $300 off of $5,000. We discounted the shirts to $10 and are now only $40 off the goal. A donation was made to cover the last $40! Our dollar-to-dollar match did another $5,000 as well. We're so excited to say $10,000 was raised for the Hope Center because of the generosity of donors, community members, and sponsors!!

Our Mission Sex trafficking is a rapidly growing issue worldwide. There are an estimated 26.7 million people that are being trafficked right now. This criminal industry profits over $150 billion a year and the United States is the #1 consumer. Indianapolis is actually an epicenter for sex trafficking in our nation. This means that this issue truly does affect our community. It is important to raise awareness and educate all generations on how to combat this vicious cycle. Our Project"Hoops for Hope" is a fundraiser for a local organization called the Hope Center. The Hope Center is a residential, nonprofit, faith-based facility that aims to impart hope and healing to the hearts of women who have been trafficked, abused, or exploited. The Hope Center was founded in 2016 by David and Hubert Nolan. The organization has now grown to have 3 different residential programs that each have different missions in order to help survivors heal and grow. The Hope Center has several different partnerships, including Redefined Hope Boutique, the David Nolan Food Pantry of Hope, and Jordan Detection K-9. Redefined Hope Boutique is a constant fundraiser for the Hope Center as it is a nonprofit. The David Nolan Food Pantry is a community food pantry that aims to serve families and individuals who battle food-insecurity. Jordan Detection K-9 trains dogs who partner with law enforcement to smell a chemical within electronics, which helps to identify and rescue victims of trafficking and incriminate traffickers. We choose this organization as the Hope Center is right down the road. By supporting this program, we can make a difference for victims and survivors in our community and nationally. On December 8th, we are doing a fundraiser at the boy and girls varsity doubleheader against Greenfield Central. We will be selling t-shirts, doing raffle-baskets, and chuck-a-ducks for our primary fundraisers. Our goal is to raise $5,000 on the night of the basketball game. We also are finding donors willing to do a dollar-to-dollar match of what we raise. For the next couple months, on Wednesdays, we will be working with Redefined Hope and other programs at the Hope Center. We will primarily serve in the donation room, food pantry, and in the boutique. Pitch Day
